Buy it here!July 29, 2010 The Math Professor I love this book. I love the price. The GREAT thing is that if you go to Border's or B&N you get a sheet with all the errata that you have to worry about. My copies from Amazon already had the errate fixed! My only criticism is that - at times - I could have used some of the detailed explanations that you find in some of the other SAT prep books. The math questions are excellent.
A must for SAT high-scorerJuly 29, 2010 Minh Duc This book is well-known for its real tests. Taking the practice tests in this "blue book" certainly familiarize yourself with the genuine SAT style from the official test-maker. Before considering other prep books, buy this first
The Official SAT Study GuideJuly 22, 2010 lalalala I loved this product from Amazon! it said it would arrive in 2 days and i recieved it even earlier than that. I was soo happy it arrived so soon!
This Book Is Good But Needs A Companion!!July 15, 2010 Leo Gardner 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book is fantastic as long as it is accompanied by the right companion book. "The Offical SAT Study Guide" provides great testing material exactly like the real tests since the College Board produces the exams and this book. So it is the book to get for practice exams. The shortcoming is the lack of question explanations. Even explanations posted on-line are not very clear or useful, as my daughter an SAT test taker tells me. This dilemma is simply solved by ordering the book "STEP-BY-STEP SAT with Official SAT Study Guide Solutions" (ISBN 978-0-557-46336-7) by Dr. Ronald Fikar. This book provides detailed solutions to the College Board book, and it also has vocabulary and math formulas, which my daughter found extremely valuable. So we bought both of these books, and my daughter did well on the SAT exam. That made me appreciative enough to write reviews for both of these books!
too many typos, uncharacteristically, but still pretty reliableJuly 4, 2010 test teacher 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have used the College Board-produced collections of real SATs for over 2 decades with students with great results and been incredibly impressed with the quality and reliability of the books in general. This edition of the book has, as others have pointed out, numerous typos and errors. Thus, it's less reliable and more frustrating for students to use. That said, it's still a reliable book if you use the page of errata that is supposed to be enclosed. If you don't have it, it's easy enough to get it via the College Board, which emailed me a copy.
I usually recommend using this book in conjunction with two others: Boot Camp for Your Brain: A No-Nonsense Guide to the SAT I (2010 edition or 2004 edition are both up to date, though I recommend 2010 edition)and The Elements of Style by Strunk and White (any edition is fine, but I recommend the illustrated edition) The Elements of Style Illustrated, . You do not need to buy 10-15 books. These 3 are great!
